Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern access to the cog website, waitlist, web application, APIs, and the intended planning product at runcog.dev. Some sections only apply if the relevant feature is enabled, such as account login, household collaboration, Google integrations, generated calendar output, or future paid plans.
These terms are made between you and Cornelius Wichering, Am Heidbergstift 58, 28717 Bremen, Germany, operating the service under the name cog.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using cog, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility and account security
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into these terms and to use the service for yourself or your household.
- If account creation is enabled, you must provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity that occurs through your account.
3. Household data and permissions
cog is intended to support household planning, which may include shared data, private member data, and masked availability signals. If you create a household, invite another adult, add dependent information, or sync contact data, you represent that you have the authority to provide that information and to use the service for that planning purpose.
4. Google and third-party integrations
If you connect Google Calendar, Google Contacts, or another external service, you authorize cog to access the data and scopes needed for the feature you enable. This may include reading selected source calendars and contacts, maintaining sync state, and creating, moving, or deleting generated events in a cog-managed output calendar.
Third-party services are outside our control. Their availability, security, rate limits, policy changes, and outages may affect cog features.
5. Planning outputs are assistive
Planning suggestions, generated events, conflict explanations, and future tradeoff or reshuffling features are assistive outputs. They are not promises, guarantees, or professional advice.
You must review scheduling outputs before relying on them. cog is not a medical, legal, financial, mental-health, childcare, safety-critical, or emergency-response service.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes;
- upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with availability, or bypass security controls;
- scrape, reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract source code or protected internal logic except where applicable law permits it and cannot be excluded;
- use the service to process another person's data without a valid basis or in a way that violates privacy, confidentiality, or intellectual-property rights;
- use bots or automated tools to create accounts, harvest data, or overload the service; or
- rely on cog as the sole system for emergency, medical, transport, or other high-risk decisions where failure could lead to harm.
7. Your content and license to operate the service
You retain ownership of the content and data you provide to cog, subject to the rights needed for us to operate the service. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, revocable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, sync, and process your content solely as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the service.
8. Feedback
If you send suggestions, feedback, or ideas about cog, we may use them without restriction or compensation to you.
9. Our intellectual property
Unless we say otherwise, the service, its branding, and its underlying code, design, text, graphics, and other content are owned by us or our licensors. Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to access and use the service for its intended purpose.
10. Availability, beta features, and product changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of cog at any time. Some features may be marked experimental, preview, or beta and may change more often or behave less predictably than stable features.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, exact sync timing, or that a generated plan will always reflect the latest external change immediately.
11. Fees and future paid features
The current public site and waitlist do not require payment. If we later offer paid plans, subscriptions, or add-on services, separate commercial terms, order forms, or pricing pages may apply in addition to these terms.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these terms, created risk for the service or other users, or if continued access would be unlawful.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, cog is provided on an "as available" and "as is" basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, perfectly current, or suitable for every use case.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, business, goodwill, opportunities, data, or time arising from or related to the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where mandatory law says that liability must remain.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence requires otherwise.
16. Privacy
Your use of the service is also subject to our Privacy Policy , which explains how we process personal data.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page and may provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised terms.
18. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to Cornelius Wichering, Am Heidbergstift 58, 28717 Bremen, Germany, or to mail@runcog.dev.
